About Katie Montoya

Mrs. Montoya is a lifelong Christian and second-generation homeschooling mom of five boys and one girl. After a rigorous and robust education through a collaborative program in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she graduated summa cum laude from Patrick Henry College with a degree in Government (Political Theory). She earned her law degree from the University of Virginia where she edited the Virginia Law Review and later served as a law clerk to two federal appellate judges before practicing appellate and constitutional law at a major litigation firm in Washington, D.C.

All the while, however, and thanks especially to her stellar and devoted professors at Patrick Henry College, the Lord was growing in Mrs. Montoya a passion for classical Christian education as the best means of training the next generation to love learning, think carefully, and speak winsomely to the glory of God. She and her husband enrolled their oldest son at a classical, Christian, collaborative school in Virginia for his kindergarten year—and that year set the standard for how they wanted to educate each of their children. 

When God moved their family to the Kansas City area the next year and there wasn’t a similar school nearby, the Lord started prompting Mrs. Montoya to leave legal practice and trust Him in this new and exciting adventure called Knox Classical School. Mrs. Montoya is grateful for the chance to serve the families at Knox Classical and even more grateful for the chance to be daily involved in her children’s education. 

Mrs. Montoya and her husband are members of Redeemer Fellowship Church in Lenexa.
