Knox Classical is a growing classical Christian collaborative school of over 80 students from across the greater Kansas City area. We opened in fall 2024 with 30 students in grades K–3 and are committed to adding one grade every year until we offer grades K–12. We will serve grades K–6 in the 2027–2028 academic year.
We hold on-campus classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (starting in fifth grade), students study at home under the supervision of their parents (whom we call “co-teachers”) using assignments prepared by their on-campus teachers. Before fifth grade, Friday is reserved as a flex-day, which families may use for co-curricular activities, travel, or enjoying extra time together as a family.
Our school’s practices and programming are governed by four operational principles—simplicity, accessibility, value, and transparency. Our core commitment is to a Christ-centered education in the liberal arts tradition. We are committed to one discipline outside of the classical liberal arts (visual arts), and one foreign language (Latin). When we open our Upper School (expected fall 2028), we anticipate committing to one sport (cross country), and one tool for student character and leadership development and Upper School culture (the house system).
Our programs and practices are simple in the name of peaceful and orderly living and to remain accessible with respect to tuition costs. Tailoring our programming also allows us to achieve excellence in each pursuit—thereby delivering exceptional value to our families. Finally, we are committed to full transparency with parents in our covenantal partnership with them, including in students’ academic and character development.

Our faculty will be committed to educating and discipling their students in partnership with parents, skillfully guiding their students to love what is good, true, and beautiful according to classical pedagogy.
Our parents will embrace their responsibility to raise their children in the instruction of the Lord and eagerly implement Knox Classical School's educational philosophy at home. They will strive to cultivate a Christ-like school community by serving eagerly, maintaining unity, addressing conflict biblically, and being quick to encourage one another in love and good works.
Within our local community, our school will be above reproach in our business dealings and exemplify the unity of the body of Christ by promoting greater fellowship and understanding among local churches.
One year at a classical, Christian, collaborative school in Virginia when my oldest son was in kindergarten completely transformed my family’s life. It showed me and my husband a format for schooling that would allow us to be daily involved in our children’s education but enjoy the support of loving and talented teachers. And it introduced us to a pedagogical approach wholly directed towards seeking the God who has delivered us from the domain of darkness and in whom all things hold together (Col. 1:13, 17).
We’ve been so convinced of the merits of this method that we’ve devoted our lives to sharing it with others.
